Mahanagar Gas Limited conducts free Eye Check up camp for auto rickshaw drivers in Wadala


Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has been contributing towards the health of auto rickshaw & taxi drivers through various CSR initiatives. In furtherance of this initiative, MGL organized a free Eye Check up Camp for the auto rickshaw drivers at City Gas Station, opposite Anik BEST Depot, Wadala on 18th January 2011.

The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Vikas Pandkar, RTO, Wadala in the presence of MGL’s Managing Director Mr. V.C. Chittoda and Technical Director Mr. Allan Perrin, and other senior RTO and MGL officials.

While inaugurating the camp, Mr. Pandkar appreciated MGL for its social initiative for the health and welfare of the auto drivers.

On the occasion, Mr. V.C. Chittoda, Managing Director, Mahanagar Gas Limited stated; “MGL emphasizes on the safety and health of the auto drivers as they are one of their major consumers.

About 140 auto rickshaw drivers availed of the free eye check up at this camp. The autodrivers were overwhelmed by MGL’s gesture.

The camp was organized in coordination with the auto unions, through a team of Ophthalmologists from Guru Nanak Hospital. Besides checking the eyes the beneficiaries were given basic information on eye care enabling them to identify any vision problem or any such eye related infection or disorder.

Similar eye check up camps had been organized by MGL for auto and taxi drivers across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Taking this initiative further this camp was organized for the auto drivers in Wadala. MGL proposes to organize more such camps for the benefit of auto rickshaw  and taxi drivers. 

In addition to the Eye Check up, for creating safety awareness in usage of CNG MGL’s Mobile Safety Van equipped with audio visuals on Safety was stationed on the location for educating the CNG users.
